Ghulam Ishaq Khan(1915-2006)




Ghulam Ishaq Khan  speaking (Urdu)
And born on 20 January 1915  died in  27 October 2006).
He was a Pakistani bureaucrat who served as the seventh (7th) president of Pakistan, elected in 1988 until his resignation in 1993. And he have there own Institut on there name Ghulam Ishaq Khan
Institute.
Gnrive up in Bannu, And get higher education Ghulam Ishaq from Peshawar University and join the
Indian Civil Service. After it he Appointed the first chairman of the Water and Power Development by President Ayub Khan in 1961.
And also Ghulam Ishaq served as Finance Secretary of Pakistan from 1966 to 1970.

EARLY LIFE

Ghulam Ishaq Khan was born in Ismail Khel, Bannu District, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Province, Pakistan.
He was an ethnic Bangash Pashtun.
After completing his schooling in Bannu, Khan first attended the Islamia College before
transfer to Peshawar University. He got double BSc in Chemistry and in Botany as well.
After completing degree he initially looking for a university job. But Khan joined the Indian Civil Service in 1941.
After INDEPENDENCE of Pakistan he took  the provincial secretariat as the secretary of the irrigation department, which he held until 1955.

PUBLIC SERVICES

In 1956 khan  become Secretary of Development and irrigation of sindh.
In 1958 khan become Secretariat of ministry of agriculture.And in 1961 become Chireman of water and power development.
During Chireman play important roles in construction of Mangla and Warsak Dam.
In 1966 khan become FEDERAL finance Secretary until 1970.
And then in 1971 Bhutto oppointed him Governor of state bank of Pakistan.

DEFENCE Secretary

In 1975 Bhutto transfer from Governor to DEFENCE Secretary.
During that time, Ghulam ishaq Khan became closer and closer to the General Zia-ul-Haq.
When he join the office of Defence Secretary, he helped the scientist to manage Pakistan's atomic bomb project.
the Uranium Coordination Board (UCB) is under him so  he consisted of AGN Kazi, Munir Ahmad and Agha Shahi.

MINISTRY OF FINANCE

After Prime Minister Zulfikar Ali Bhutto was ousted in a staged coup DEATH in 1977, Khan. But Khan Played a key role in the event of stabilizing chief of army staff General Zia-ul-Haq during 
Bhutto's capacity.
He take action against it that it's harmful for country that type of action.
In the 1980s, Khan give more attention to the implementation of the economic which is by the rule and law of  Islamization by introducing the risk-free interest rate system. And as well as establishing the corporatization in the industrial sector in Pakistan.
Khan maintained his ties with the nuclear society and gave strong priority for the nuclear program to become the Pakistan as the nuclear country.
Khan provide deterrence as channeling financial funds for the development of the atomic bomb projects. Khan gave tax free status to the all Bank of Credit and Commerce International
(BCCI).

SENATE CHIREMAN (1985-1988)

Khan become the Senate Chireman After the non-partisan general elections which is held in 1985. And  Khan was succeeded by Mahbub ul Haq– an economist.
Khan want to participate in the upcoming indirect senate elections as an independent.
In 1985, he became the Chairman of the Senate until 1988.

PRESIDENT OF PAKISTAN (1988-1993)

Khan join ppp party and succeeded in election in PRESIDENTIAL election.
Khan secured 608 votes in the
elections, competing against four other candidate.
Khan also supported by Nawaz Sharif.
Khan trying  to control the law and order in  Pakistan after witnessing the Soviet
troops' withdrawal from Afghanistan.
Although. And  he maintained an ally of the United States.

DEATH AND RETIREMENT

Stand against ppp but from presidency  eventually dropped as a
candidate in favour of Farooq Leghari in 1993  general elections.
He retired from the politics and avoided himself from contact with international and domestic news media.
He died on 27 October 2006, after a bout of pneumonia.
